The pupils of Ysgol Gymraeg Y Trallwng have come up trumps at the Urdd Eisteddfod in Llandovery, winning the ‘Theatric Performance’ title.

The school’s brilliant performance, based on the theme ‘The bad egg’ involved a mix of drama, singing and reciting, involving a total of 23 pupils.

“The judges said that it was an outstanding performance that was energetic - transferring from sadness to happiness excellently,” said proud headteacher, Angharad Davies.

“The standard of singing was exceptional, especially the trio. Also, each individual was praised for their amazing performances. All in all, a very powerful performance with a very important message - every child is able to achieve, whatever their background.”

Ms Davies said that the school was “bursting with pride” and the “these children are incredible”.

“These children are keeping the Welsh language alive so I would like to thank the children, the parents and the most incredible staff for their hard work, enthusiasm and passion,” she said.

But they didn’t have long to celebrate, as the school will be returning to south west Wales today to compete in the dance competitions.
