As discussions about the long-term future of the once popular Ann Holloway Day Centre continue, one local art group has confirmed that it will be relaunching its fun sessions for all ages next week.
Celf-Able holds sessions across Montgomeryshire, but is returning to Welshpool on Tuesday, April 18, from 11am-3pm with an open invite for all ages to “come along and dabble in some art”.
“We provide opportunities for people to get together and do art, share and learn from each other,” a spokesperson told us.
“We bring materials and refreshments, lunch is also available from the centre for £6.50 for 2 courses (pre-booking required for lunches).
“We charge a session fee of £3 for members and £5 for non-members. An annual membership is £15. But your first session is free, so come along and give it a go!”
Meanwhile, the group’s regular art group sessions around Montgomeryshire continue with upcoming meetings at the Hanging Gardens, Llanidloes, on April 19; the Enterprise Hub, Newtown, on April 26; the Institute, Llanfair Caereinion, on May 2; and the Library Building in Llanfyllin, on May 3. All take place from 11am-3pm.
“In April and May we are making and playing with puppets as part of our production of a puppet version of Under Milk Wood, Dylan Thomas’ iconic play for voices, funded by Ashley Family Foundation,” the spokesperson added. “But you can still come and do your own art too.”

Welshpool’s Day Centre has been a hot topic in recent years after closing its doors due to high running costs, but it is gradually being used more by a number of community organisations.
