Welshpool roads set for white line work next week
Motorists have been bamboozled by Welshpool’s confusing road system this summer, with issues compounded by the faded white lines.
One particularly spot at the junction outside the Westwood Park Hotel has had motorists not familiar with the road system slam on their brakes approaching the junction, with several near misses reported.
But Cllr Graham Breeze, who represents the Llanerchydol Ward, confirmed today that the Highways Department had responded to calls for some urgent white line replacements in the town.
While motorists can expect some disruption as Powys County Council carries out the work next Monday evening (September 7), it can’t come soon enough for many users.
“Many residents have contacted me about dangerous situations where white lining has faded away at key junctions and now the highways team has confirmed the work will take place on Monday night,” said Cllr Breeze.
Key areas will include the Union Street junction with Church Bank, the Mill Lane junction alongside the Westwood Park Hotel, Gungrog Road and Cobden Street.
Warning signs are expected to appear today, Wednesday.
