Adele Nicoll gave us another thrilling evening of entertainment at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics tonight, but she still has a lot to do if she is to secure a top 20 spot and make the fourth and final heat in the 2-woman bobsleigh tomorrow night.
The 29-year-old pilot has teamed up with multiple sprint medallist Ashleigh Nelson, who was celebrating her 35th birthday today, as her brakewoman and was confident of building on her impressive Olympic debut in the Monobob earlier in the week.
But an early error in the first heat proved costly as she found herself in joint 20th, and despite a cleaner drive in her second heat, they find themselves 21st overnight, with the third heat set for 6pm tomorrow night (Saturday).
The fourth and final heat at 8.05pm will feature the top 20 only, so Adele knows they will need a big ride in the third heat to secure her place.
The leader overnight is reigning gold medallist Laura Nolte and her brakewoman Deborah Levi who are 2.07 seconds ahead of Adele.
