Could we be in for a dusting of snow Friday?

The New Year could well be bringing in our first sprinkling of snow for the winter on Friday after forecasters issued a yellow warning for snow and ice.

After a relatively dry festive period, the ‘New Year, New Me’ week is set to welcome snow overnight, with the cold temperatures continuing into Friday creating slippery conditions.

New Year’s Day has been glorious, with 1,304 fans watching a local derby football match between Caersws and Newtown, but the temperature is starting to drop and could hit freezing point in the early hours.

The Met Office yellow warning has been issued for large parts of Central England and Wales for midnight through to noon tomorrow (Friday), but the likelihood for us is that we will see the snow limited to higher ground.

What should we expect from a yellow warning for snow and ice?

·      Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services

·      Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces

·      Likely some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths
