Welshpool businessman Mike Harris has tabled a £9m offer to buy Shrewsbury Town Football Club.
The millionaire entrepreneur, who already owns TNS in the Welsh Premier, said he was knocked back last year when he first tried to buy the struggling League One club.
But he has returned today with an offer to buy 100% of the club’s shares for £5million, and the promise of a further £4m cash injection to immediately rebuild the team and upgrade infrastructure.
In his open letter, Mr Harris said: “Dear Mr. Chairman, Fellow Shareholders, and Supporters of Shrewsbury Town FC. in light of recent media speculation, I am excited to formally express my intentions regarding the acquisition of Shrewsbury Town FC.”
He goes on to list his offer in the following way:
“I propose a cash payment of £5M to acquire 100% of the shares in the Club.
“My offer is based on the club being debt free and surplus cash being paid to the shareholders.
“I will also inject £4m into the club to rebuild the team for the upcoming season and enhance the Club’s infrastructure.
“My offer is straightforward and unencumbered by conditions. It is a sincere proposal aimed at safeguarding the future of the Club, establishing a prudent business model, and ensuring fiscal responsibility, allowing the Club to thrive both on and off the field.
“Moreover, it aims to restore harmony after what has been a challenging season for the Club.”
Mr Harris has given the club until May 1 to accept the offer and went on to say that he can launch a new era for the club.
