‘Wonderful Welshpool’ is cover story for world’s longest running women’s magazine

A magazine that was first published during the reign of Queen Victoria and before Alexander Graham Bell had yet to make the first telephone call, has featured Welshpool as its cover story this week.

With a glorious illustration of the former railway station sprawled across its cover, The People’s Friend features “Wonderful Welshpool” as its cover destination.

The magazine has been a mainstay for many British households since 1869, and is still popular with the senior female demographic to this day, calling itself the ‘world’s longest running women’s magazine’ that is famous for fiction and features.

The glorious feature on Welshpool even steals the limelight from a ‘40 years of Eastenders’ story.
