It was a glorious morning in Welshpool today as one man’s three-prong bid to raise awareness for Parkinson’s UK, get people on the move and to raise funds got underway.
A healthy group of participants, including Team GB endurance runner Andy Davies, from Forden, joined former Llanfair Caereinion high school head teacher Phil Jones as he launched his first of seven 10km runs from Morrison’s Car Park.
Town Mayor, Cllr Nick Howells, was in attendance as the group, including representation from MyWelshpool, ran and walked 10kms along the canal path. Other participants completed 10km on a rower inside Great Fitness.
“What a great start to the week, and the sun was shining on us!” said Phil. “I can confirm that we have already broken the £5,000 mark in fundraising for Parkinson’s UK, so thank-you to everyone for the support to date.”
Phil’s remaining 10k runs will take in various schools and businesses, and culminate in the Welshpool 10k on Sunday.
Anyone is welcome to join him, and you can contribute to his fund by clicking here.
