The Green Party have entered the fray for the local UK Parliamentary seat, with Montgomery and Forden county councillor Jeremy Brignell-Thorp confirmed as their candidate for Montgomeryshire and Glyndwr.
A General Election is expected later this year, and this week’s confirmation from the Green Party means that six candidates to date have been announced.
The veteran environmental campaigner announced: “Just in case there is a General Election this year, I am pleased to say that I will be standing as the offical Green Party candidate in Montgomeryshire and Glyndwr.
“The Green Party is the only party taking the climate emergency seriously - and this is the defining issue of this century.
“The Green Party also stands for a fair and compassionate society, please contact me if you would like to learn more about the Green Party.”
The candidates so far (in no particular order):
Plaid Cymru: Elwyn Vaughan
Labour: Steve Witherden
Green Party: Jeremy Brignell-Thorp
Conservatives: Craig Williams
Liberal Democrats: Glyn Preston
Reform UK: Oliver Lewis
