If you are feeling a bit tubby after the Christmas chocolate binge, here’s how you can possibly feel a little bit better!
A local collection point has been set up to collect the empty chocolate tubs that are probably in just about every local household, with them then being forwarded on to be recycled and make money for charity.
Local resident Julie Bickley is spearheading the campaign here which is led nationally by Greene King under their ‘Tub2Pub’ recycling drive to raise money for Macmillan Cancer.
Our local collection point is Welshpool Livestock Sales (WLS) with a target to beat the 1,800 that she collected last year.
You can take your clean and empty confectionery tubs, biscuit tubs and crackers tubs to WLS anytime from now up until February 16.
Over the last five years, Tub2Pub has collected 26,253kg of plastic, which is around 230,000 tubs, raising £23,908 for Greene King’s charity partner, Macmillan Cancer Support. It has also stopped them going to landfill.
If you are not in the Welshpool area, you can drop off at your nearest Greene King establishment taking part here https://www.greeneking.co.uk/pubs-near-me.
