Joe Jones played some fine golf to win Saturday’s Turkey Trail stableford at Welshpool Golf Club.

He scored an excellent 28 points to leave four players behind on 27 points. A count-back was needed to settle the places with Graham Moss second and Nick Jones in third.

With the thermometer touching -6 degrees, the early players for Sunday's medal Turkey Trail faced some unusual conditions.  Proving a master of these early challenges, David Read came first with a highly creditable 47 points, closely followed by Ian Cadwallader with 47.5.  In third place and winning on count-back was Barclay Pritchard with 48.5.

The seniors played the third round of their Turkey Trail, a stableford competition with club captain, John Morley firsst with his round of the year, 32 points from 12 holes. Second on count-back was Ray Bowen with 28 points, just beating the club chairman John Wood.

The seniors played individual stableford was won by Derrick Arthur with 28 points from Peter Sharman with 26 and in third place was Alun Evans with 25.
