Plans to become a more “Welcoming Welshpool” for residents, businesses and visitors will depend on future funding, according to the town council which has issued a £10,875 (excl. of VAT) tender for an “experienced consultancy”.
At the recent business forum, Mayor Alison Davies outlined plans for the town to bid for funding that could help to transform the town centre and reverse the tide of closures that are blighting the high street.
Last night, the tender was issued for an experienced consultancy to produce a Welshpool Development Plan before October 30, 2022.
“Our aim is to become a “Welcoming Welshpool” for residents, businesses and visitors,” the tender document states.
“The final document will provide evidence and prioritisation for future funding applications to a range of sources, such as Shared Prosperity Fund.”
It goes on to say that “Welcoming Welshpool” will be the mantra to engage with all areas of the community in the future.
Scope of the Work
Applicants are expected to submit a method statement to demonstrate how that they intend to meet the brief within the proposed timescales.
“It should be noted that the consultant will be required to liaise with a consultancy appointed by Powys County Council to focus on a Welshpool town centre development plan,” the tender explains.
Applications should be submitted by email only to anne@welshpooltowncouncil.gov.uk by July 29, 2022 at 12 noon.
