The lead organiser of the successful Welshpool 10k has confirmed that he has secured the running of the Lake Vyrnwy Half Marathon, which will make a return on September 18.
Alan Lewis, of Adrenaline Sporting Events, said he was “privileged and honoured” to take on the event from the local community which has organised the run for the past 30 years, originally to raise money for the village church.
“I would like to thank the local community for entrusting me with this event and I look forward to doing my best to take the Lake Vyrnwy Half Marathon forward,” said Alan.
The date of September 18 has been set and part of the logistical challenge Alan faces is parking for the estimated 2,000 runners expected to take part.
But already he has secured a large field around four miles from the start point and said they will hire a fleet of double decker buses to transport runners.
“There are a lot of challenges but we will work through them to host another professional event that the area can be proud of,” Alan added.
