A famous Lockhead SR-71 Blackbird pilot, will be giving an illustrated talk at Welshpool Town Hall on Friday, May 12 in the build-up to the town’s annual airshow.
The knowledge and personal experiences of former pilot and now author Col. Richard Graham during his seven years in this record breaking aircraft promises an entertaining evening for everyone.
Those attending will find out how the height, speed and agility of the SR-71 earned it the nickname of “Blackbird” and how the advantages of an aircraft capable of flying at record-breaking speeds in excess of Mach 3 and heights of over 80,000 ft. on reconnaissance missions meant that not one was ever shot down.
The event will start at 7-30pm with tickets on sale at £10 from the Tourist Information Centre, Welshpool (01938 552043) and Mid Wales Airport (01938 555560).
