Jones goes back-to-back for Premier League title

Kacey Jones (on left) became the first back-to-back Welshpool Premier League Darts Champion after defeating Steve Price, 6-3, in a brilliant final.

Jones started the night with a bang, averaging 100.20 over Dan Morgan in the quarters and then defeating last year’s runner-up Jamie Kynaston in the semis, 5-1. Kynaston had earlier beat Gareth Ashley in the quarters.

Price beat Dan Hosiene 4-0 in the quarter-finals and then came up against Ewan Jones in the semi-finals, who beat former champion Gary Jones with a 96 average. Price came out the victor, 5-3, to set up a clash with Kacey in the final.

The final had it all, 6x180s and a 160 checkout with lots of high scoring, but the win eventually went to Kacey who averaged 87 to Price’s 84. He was in unstoppable form all night, producing an 11-darter in the final.

The league also held a consolation event for the players who didn’t make the finals. There was some great darts thrown all night and the final came down to the youth of the league in Rhys Butler and Jack Price.

Both players have done well this season, Jack in his debut year finished ninth, just missing out on the finals, and Rhys (pictured below, left) finding some form again and climbing up the table showing people his talent. He came out the victor in the showdown in a last leg decider, 3-2.
