A Welshpool teenager has been named Central Wales Young Volunteer of the Year at the regional awards night for the McDonalds FAW Grassroots Awards.
Cerys Roberts has been recognised for the multiple roles that she undertakes for Welshpool Town Football Club, where she has also played in the junior set-up over recent years.
The 15-year-old attended the Awards night at Bow Street Football Club, near Aberystwyth, where she received the honour from none other than Wales goalkeeping legend Neville Southall.
Cerys coaches the town’s U10 girls and organised two junior all girls football festivals last season whilst also taking on social media responsibilities for the club as a whole.
Not only that, she can be seen on first team, reserve and women’s team match days setting up the pitch and then helping to serve in the canteen.
