It was another evening of top-class darts as the Welshpool Premier League Darts sponsored by Green Dragon Welshpool went up a gear at the weekend.
The standout performance of the night came from Ewan Jones, who produced the highest average of the season with a superb 91.56 in a 4-1 victory over Gareth Ashley, in what was undoubtedly the game of the night.
Jones fired in two 180s and added a classy 112 checkout to cap an outstanding display. Ashley also found the maximum once in a high-quality contest.
Kacey Jones also stole the headlines with a sensational 4-0 whitewash of Oscar Hyland, delivering a stunning 10-dart leg, landing two 180s and averaging an impressive 88.41 in one of the performances of the season.
Elsewhere, Dave Rix enjoyed a productive evening. He defeated Neil Astley 4-2 thanks to two 180s and a brilliant 125 checkout before later sharing the spoils in a 3-3 draw with Alex Howard. Rix added another highlight with a season-best 145 checkout, while Howard contributed a 180 in the drawn encounter.
Ewan Jones opened his night with a commanding 4-0 win over Jon Gamble, while Jack Price recorded back-to-back victories, seeing off Rob Shingler 4-0 before defeating Jon Gamble 4-1.
Rhys Butler was another player in dominant form, whitewashing Gary Jones 4-0, while Steve Price secured two victories on the night, defeating Jamie Cater 4-1 before repeating the scoreline against Dan Morgan, adding a 180 in the process.
Ashley claimed a 4-2 victory over Cam Williams earlier in the evening and produced a fine 108 checkout along the way.
Dan Hosiene cruised to a 4-0 victory over Mitch Butler, while Jamie Kynaston completed a 4-0 win against Alex Howard, despite Howard registering another 180.
The only other drawn match of the evening saw Neil Astley and Mitch Butler share the points in a 3-3 contest.
With a 10-dart leg, multiple ton-plus checkouts and several maximums across the board, it proved to be a night packed with quality darts, but Jones’ season-leading average and thrilling win over Ashley ultimately stole the show.
