Reigning champion Kacey Jones has launched his 2026 Welshpool Premier League darts campaign in style with a victory over the man he beat in last year’s final.
Jones overcame close rival Jamie Kynaston 4-1 and backed that up with a second opening night win over Jamie Cater, 4-0.
Cater managed to secure a draw in his second game of the night against debutant Jack Price, while Kynaston bounced back with a 4-0 win over debutant, Jon Gamble, who later battled back from 3-1 down to draw against Dan Hosiene.
Hoisene sits on three points after claiming a win over Rhys Butler earlier in the night, with Butler also tasting defeat again against Cameron Williams, 4-0.
Williams went two from two with a win over youngster Alex Howard 4-1, whilst another teenager, Oscar Hyland, managed to claim a draw on debut against Robin Shingler, but was later beaten 4-0 against Dan Morgan.
Morgan was the form player of the night, claiming a second 4-0 win with a brilliant display of scoring against Neil Astley.
Gareth Ashley hit the highest average on the night with 89.73 when beating Dave Rix, 4-0. Ewan Jones claimed a victory over Gary Jones with a solid display to get himself off to a good start. Steve Price also launched his campaign with a 4-1 win over Mitch Butler.
