Montgomery have moved up to second in the Shropshire Division Two, benefiting from being one of the few games to be played and securing maximum points.
Batting first, Charles Clinton (40) top scored as Monty managed to post 157-7 from their 35 overs against Wheaton Aston.
It proved to be more than enough with Tom Anderson (3-25) leading the response as Monty dismissed their visitors for just 86.
Welshpool’s derby with Guilsfield & Llandrinio fell victim to the morning showers, but Newtown II and Llanidloesmanaged to play in Division Four.
Ian Hancocks (48) led Newtown II to 160-5 from their 30 overs at home to Cound II who held out for 119-8 with six Newtown bowlers taking wickets.
Llanidloes also drew their home match with Shifnal III, failing to reach the visitors’ 152-4 and finishing on 125-5 in their 30-over contest.
Welshpool II still have the chance to win the Division Six title after keeping themselves within reach of the top with a win at Alberbury II, who had set a target of 153-6 from 25 overs.
But Pat Davies (53) and Lance Parkes (38no) ensured Pool returned home with an eight-wicket win.
Montgomery II finished well-short of Willey II’s 223-3, finishing on 120-9. Skipper Tom Corfield (33) top scored.
