Welshpool and District Darts League held its presentation and individuals evening on Friday, writes Steve Lloyd.
A strong field of 65 entries saw the final four of Gareth Ashley, Dave Rix, Kacey Jones and Dan Hoseine.
Rix beat Hoseine and Ashley beat Jones to set up a grand final that was a credit to the league, with Ashley (right in centre) taking the honours to cap off his first season back in the league after a stint in the Shrewsbury League.
In the Canalside Carpets League Cup, the Kings Head A beat the Green Dragon C. A great effort by the Green Dragon C belying their league position to get into the major cup competition final. The Kings Head A (right) won 4-2 in the final.
In the Will Nunn Cup, the Red Lion A (right) won in a great final against the Powis Arms Pool Quay.
In the Langford Shield, held on April 25, there was also a cracking entry of 11 teams. They worked down to the last two who were The Westwood B and the Black Lion Llanfair. The final went right to the wire, all on the last doubles where the Westwood B won 4-3. A superb effort by all teams.
Finally, the League Division 1 winners, The Kings Head A (right), were presented the shield on Friday evening after a superb season that saw them complete the league and cup double. The Green Dragon A were runners-up.
In the Second Division, The Owl & Pussycat (right, below) were presented their title trophy with the runners-up, The Pheasant, accepting their accolade.
More news on the individual trophy winners next week.
