Cup glory for Kings, Red Lion

It was another tremendous night of local darts as Welshpool and District Darts League, sponsored by The New Saints FC, held its annual finals night at Molto’s, writes Steve Lloyd.

In the Canalside Carpets League Cup, the semi-finals saw the Green Dragon C (right) edge out the Westwood A, 4-3, on the last doubles match to book their place in the final where they met the League Champions, Kings Head A (pictured top), who beat the Green Dragon A, 4-1, to book their final spot.

The Kings Head then went on to complete their double with a fine 4-2 victory, with some very close matches.

In the Will Nunn Consolation Cup, the Powis Arms beat the Grapes A 4-0, to book a final spot against the Red Lion A (pictured below), Llanfair Caereinion, who beat local rivals, Castle A, 4-0.

The final saw the Red Lion A edge the youngsters from the Powis Arms (right) 4-3 in an excellent contest.
