Kings step closer to title

The Kings Head A have extended their lead at the top of the Welshpool and District Darts League sponsored by The New Saints FC after beating the Westwood A 5-2, writes Steve Lloyd.

Youngster Oscar Hyland, Dave Rix, Kacey Jones (113 out shot) and Jon Gamble all won for the Kings Head, while Steve Lloyd pulled one back for the Westwood A with the two doubles shared. Gareth Ashley (180) for the Westwood A.

The Green Dragon A lost ground at the top after a narrow 4-3 win at the Punchbowl. Dave Boyle, Mitch Butler and Rob Shingler won for the Dragon A, while Adam Jay and Mike Hall won for the Punchbowl with the doubles split. Rhys Butler hit a 180 in his defeat.

The Compass moved to within two points of the runner-up spot after a fine 6-1 win at the Green Dragon C. Al Moore won for the home team, while Gareth Richards, Dan Hoseine, Brian Jones, Cameron Williams and both doubles went the way of the Compass.

Westwood B played the Grapes A in a re-arranged match on Sunday and walked away with all of the points. Ben Davies, Theo Davies, Carl Dockerty, Jordan Harding, Jamie Cater and both doubles bagged the full points.

Finally, in Division One, the Red Lion A returned from the Oak with a 4-3 win. Aled Jones and both doubles accounted for the Oak, while Gwyn Evans, Arwyn Watkins, Neil Summers and Tom Evans won for the Red.

Division Two saw the Owl & Pussycat extend their lead by one point after beating the Angel 5-2. Joe Jones, Matt Knight, Ian Ward and Joe Searle won for the Owl while Jack Pryce won for the Angel. The doubles were shared.

The Pheasant went to the Kings Head B and came away 4-3 winners thanks to Bobby Gough (125 out shot), Rob Finney (19-dart 501) and Billy Evans wining, with Jack Lewis and Billy Johnstone won winning for the hosts. The doubles were shared.

The Powis Arms are third after a fine 5-2 win at home to the Grapes B. Konrad Scott, Sam Evans, Alun Jones and both doubles went to the home team, while Scott Jones and Robbie Davies (112 out shot) accounted for the Grapes B.

Castle A stay fourth after losing 4-3 to the Red Misfits. Ashley Roberts, Rhys Micra and Bob Titley won for the Misfits, while John Lewis and John Coulson won for the Castle A. The doubles were shared.

The Black Lion are fifth after a 5-2 win against the Lion Caerhowell. Iestyn Pryce, Dan Morgan, Tom Bowen and Bryn Lewis won for the Black Lion, while Nelly won for the Lion.
