The Kings Head A kept their four-point lead at the top of Division One after they beat the Grapes A 6-1, in the latest round of action from the Welshpool and District Darts League, sponsored by The New Saints FC, writes Steve Lloyd.
Kacey Jones, Oscar Hyland, Dave Rix, Jon Gamble and Gareth Steadman (180) all won for the Kings Head, with the doubles shared.
Second placed Green Dragon A won by the same margin over Red Lion Llanfair with Rhys and Mitch Butler, Dave Boyle and Den Williams all winning for the hosts, while Tom Evans won for the Red. The Green Dragon A won both of the doubles.
The Oak hosted third placed Compass who came away 5-2 winners despite finding themselves 2-1 down. Dan Hosiene, Brian Jones and Cameron Williams (who had 19 and 16-dart 501s and two 180s) and both doubles went the Compass way while Mike Williams and Hywell Lloyd won for the defeated hosts.
The Westwood A hosted the Green Dragon C. Duncan Cork, Dave Watson and Gareth Ashley (111 out shot) gave the Westwood A the lead going into the doubles which both went the way of the Westwood. The Green Dragon replied with Roger Knight and Gethin Stephens winning. Unlucky Dave Knight losing despite a 180 on the night.
Finally, in Division One, the Punchbowl lost by the odd game to the Westwood B. Liam Astley and Chris Jay won for the Punchbowl while Ben Davies, Theo Davies and Jordan Harding all won for the Westwood B. The doubles were shared.
In Division Two, the Owl & Pussycat extended their lead at the top after a 4-3 win at the Powis Arms. Konrad Scott and Simon Richards (180) won for the home team while Matt Knight, Joey Jones and Speedy all won for the Owl. The doubles were shared.
Hot on their heels, the Pheasant lost by the odd game at the Black Lion Llanfair. Dan Morgan, Efan Davies and Tom Bowen won for the home team while Rob Finney and Richard Jenkins won for the Pheasant. The doubles were shared.
Castle A stay third after a 5-2 win at the Lion Caerhowell. Jon Lewis, Paul Roberts, Brian Williams and both doubles went the Castle way, while Guy Weaver and Lewis won for the Lion.
The Kings Head B are mid table after losing at home to the Grapes B, 3-4 who stay just behind them. Alex Howard (180) and both doubles for the Kings B while Rob Jones (17-dart 501) Mac Nicholl, Robbie Davies and Scott Jones won for the Grapes B.
Finally, the Red Lion Misfits lost out to the Angel by the odd game 3-4. Liam Williams, Rhys ‘Micra’ Evans and Rhys ‘Paddle’ Evans winning for the Misfits while Huw Humphreys, Alister Williams and both doubles secured the win for the Angel whose Ben McNicholls hit a 99 outshot.
With only four games left, it is all to play for. Only six points separate the top two in Division One and only four points divide the top two in Division Two.
