Division Two North leaders Welshpool, buoyant after another fine 29-3 win at Rhyl last week, are on the road again, to take on an inconsistent Dolgellau, writes Gary Williams.
Pool know that they need to win two of their remaining five games to guarantee promotion, and will be looking to secure one of those at Dol.
Welshpool Head Coach, Daley Jones, said: “We were well-pleased with our performance at Rhyl, which, like Dolgellau this weekend, is never an easy place to get a result.
“The whole squad are playing well and, whilst we know it will be a battle, we believe we’ve got the firepower to get a result and move us closer to a promotion spot.”
It is very encouraging for the Maesydre club to be fielding a second side at Dolgellau as well this weekend.
Meanwhile, on Thursday night, Newtown secured a thrilling 14-10 home win against Machynlleth in Division Two.
In Division One, COBRA travel to bottom club Denbigh and will be confident of extending their recent good run of results. A hard-fought 15-12 home win against Llandudno in their last game consolidated their mid-table position.
Whilst their first team are away, COBRA 2nds play Flint (Division Three North East) and COBRA Ladies take on Llanidloes Ladies (friendly) at Cae Meifod.
In Division Three North East, Llanidloes will be hoping to get a game under their belts after recent postponements. They travel to Mold to take on their second string and, at full strength, should make it 10 wins out of 10.
