Division Two North league leaders, Welshpool, travel to Rhyl this weekend knowing that they're going to have to be at their best to get that all-important win and keep their title bid on track, writes Gary Williams.
Having won the home encounter 57-10 earlier in the season, Pool know that it will be very different when the seasiders play on their own patch. However, the Maesydre men will head north full of confidence after another impressive 48-0 victory last weekend against Abergele.
Welshpool's Head Coach, Daley Jones, said: “This weekend is the first of three very difficult games for us, away against Rhyl and Dolgellau and then home against Teirw Nant.
“Despite having a healthy lead at the top of the table, we are aware of how quickly things could change if we take our foot off the accelerator. We will demand 100% commitment and concentration from the squad. Nothing will be taken for granted.”
Newtown also travel north to face the challenge of Colwyn Bay. Newtown are 10 points behind third-placed Colwyn Bay but have three games in hand and know that a good run of wins can propel them rapidly up the table. Home advantage could be the key.
Machynlleth host second from bottom Caernarfon Athletic and, at full strength, Mach will expect to take maximum points from this game.
In Division One North, COBRA, after a fine 26-21 win last weekend at Bethesda, welcome Llandudno to Cae Meifod.
Just a point separates these two sides in mid-table but ’Dudno have a couple of games in hand. Whilst the visitors aren’t the force they have been in recent seasons, they will still provide a formidable challenge and this is a game which is too close to call.
COBRA's second team host Rhosllanerchrugog in a re-arranged fixture in Division Three North East. League positions would suggest a comfortable home victory but the visitors could run them close.
In the same division, unbeaten Llanidloes will be hoping to make it 10 out of 10 when they take on Bro Gwernant at Cae Hafren. Due to recent postponements, Llani are now in second position in the league, but have two games in hand on leaders Wrexham Athletic.
