Big wins for the leading pair in Darts League
The Kings Head A are looking strong at the top after a fine 6-1 win at the Green Dragon C, whose Paul Banfield (180) was the only victor. Jon Gamble, Dave Rix (102 out shot) Kacey Jones (180), Gareth Steadman and both doubles went the Kings Head’s way.
The Green Dragon A move into second spot after a 7-0 win at the Grapes A with Rob Shingler, Mitch Butler (180), Rhys Butler, Dave Boyle and Den Williams all winning their singles before they also took both doubles matches.
A very closely fought match between the Punchbowl and the Compass went the latter’s way 4-3. Mike Hall (171), Chris Jay (18-dart 501), and Liam Astley won for the Punchbowl and Gareth Richards (180), Brian Jones and both doubles went for the Compass.
The Westwood B came away from Oak Guilsfield and with a 5-2 win. Aled Jones and Mike Walsh won for the Oak, while Jamie Cater, Jordan Harding, Chris Proctor and both doubles went to the Westwood B.
The match between the Westwood A and Red Lion A was postponed.
In the second division, Castle A have hit top spot after a fine 6-1 win at the Powis Arms Pool Quay. Unfortunately, there was no card on Facebook to report from.
Equal at the top are the Pheasant after getting back to winning ways against the Red Lion Misfits, 5-2. Dumbo Williams and Rhys Evans won for the Red Misfits but Billy Evans, Richard Jenkins, Matt Austen and both doubles went to the Pheasant.
The Owl & Pussycat are fourth, but only two points behind the leaders, after a 5-2 win against the Grapes B. Spencer Roberts, Callum Greatorex, Joe Jones and both doubles for the Owl while Rob Jones and Jack Evans for the Grapes B. Matt Knight hit a 180 for the Owl.
The Kings Head B are now third after a 5-2 win against the Lion Caerhowell. Jack Lewis, Dave Howard, Paul 'Ercol' Jones and Tommy Kelleher won for the Kings Head B, while the Lion took both doubles.
In the last game, the Black Lion Llanfair beat the Angel 4-3. Efan Davies, Dan Morgan and Jack Jones won for the Black Lion. Alister Williams and Dylan Davies for the Angel with the doubles’ matches shared.
Please do not miss next week’s GWS Contractors Individuals competition for all players in the Welshpool and District Darts League. Also, on the night, will be an under 25s competition due to the increase of youngsters in the league. It will be held in Molto Nightclub with registration at 7.30pm, to start at 8pm prompt. The under 25s can enter the main competition as well.
