Welshpool Rugby Club will be aiming for seven wins from seven to continue their incredible start to the Division Two North season, writes Gary Williams.
In what is likely to be one of their toughest fixtures of the season, unbeaten league leaders Pool travel to Llanrwst, home of Teirw Nant.
Teirw, sitting third in the league, are always a difficult side to play but, at full strength, the Maesydre men will fancy their chances.
Welshpool Head Coach, Daley Jones, said: “Last week’s nerve-wracking win against Dolgellau showed that, even with a few key players missing, this squad is very capable of turning in winning performances. That they did it with 14 men for most of the game and coming from 0-10 behind to win, shows the character in the team.
“We’re expecting Nant to come at us with all guns blazing, but I’m confident that we can weather the early onslaught and then start showing what we’re capable of.”
Elsewhere in this Division, Newtown, buoyant after a fine away win at Machynlleth last week, will be looking to maintain their good run with a home win against a struggling Abergele.
Machynlleth miss out on a fixture this weekend out due to the odd number of teams in the division.
In Division One, COBRA make the long trek to Llangefni and form suggests that this is likely to be close with home advantage possibly being the deciding factor.
COBRA’s second string, who enjoyed a fine away win last weekend at Ruthin 2nds, will have sterner opposition this Saturday when Wrexham 2nds are the visitors to Cae Meifod.
The visitors are second in the table, a place above COBRA but having played a game more. A win for the Meifod team will draw them level in second spot.
Llanidloes, sitting unbeaten at the top of the table with six wins out of six, should extend their winning run when they travel to lowly Ruthin 2nds.
