‘Novice’ Nora’s ace!

A woman who has only been playing golf since the summer has achieved the ultimate: bagging a hole-in-one and on a hole that is one of local golf’s toughest!

Nora Davies started playing this summer through the New2Golf scheme, introduced by Welshpool Golf Club to encourage more players to take up the sport.

And what an introduction it has been, with this weekend’s ‘ace’ recorded at the infamous 158-yard Par 3, eight hole.

Landing on the green is regarded as an achievement in itself on the tough hole which sees players tee off with an upward drive to reach the narrow green located on a crown.

The club’s greenkeeper, Jon Gamble, responded: “Awesome! That’s a very rare hole-in-one there.”
