Darts season in full swing

In a cracking encounter in the Welshpool and District Darts League sponsored by The New Saints FC, the Green Dragon A edged an inform Compass 4-3, writes Steve Lloyd.

Brian Jones (100 out shot) and Dan Hosiene won for the home team while Mitch Butler, Rhys Butler and Dave Boyle won for the visitors with the doubles shared.

The Westwood A followed up last week’s win with a 7-0 win against The Oak Guilsfield. Gareth Ashley (17-dart 501), John Gibbs, Alan James, Steve Lloyd and Dave Watson won the singles and they took both doubles.

The Kings Head A ran out 4-3 winners against the Westwood B with Gareth Steadman and Dave Rix taking their singles and the hosts winning both doubles. Jamie Cater, Jordan Harding and Ben Davies won for the Westwood B.

The Red Lion A were hosting the Punchbowl on Friday who came out 4-3 winners. Clive Jones taking the only singles match for the Red but they won both of the doubles. Tim Barley, Liam Astley, Mike Hall and Adam Jones won for the Punchbowl.

Final games in the first division saw The Green Dragon C beat the Grapes A 5-2. The Green Dragon C taking the four singles with the Grapes A taking one singles match. The doubles were shared.

The Second Division saw the Angel record a 6-1 win against the Lion Caerhowel. Jack Pryce, Kyle Goodwin, Huw Humphreys and Jack Williams won for the Angel who took both doubles. Jack Pope replied for the Lion.

Another 6-1 win was recorded by Castle against The Black Lion Llanfair. Efan Davies started well for the Black but it then went the way of the home team. Brian Williams, Mark Smith, Paul Roberts and John Coulson won with both doubles going to the Castle.

The Owl & Pussycat won 4-3 at home to the Kings Head B. Ronan Edge, Jacob Schofield and Cal Greatorix won for the Owl, while Tommy Kelleher and S lewis won for the Kings Head B. The doubles were shared.

The Powis Arms also won 4-3 against the Red Lion Misfits. Adam Fessey, Keith Gallier and Henry Jones won for the Powis. ‘Dumbo’ Williams and Bob Titley won for the Misfits. The doubles were shared.

In the final second division match of the evening, the Pheasant beat the Grapes B on their own turf 4-3. Rob Jones and Keiron won for the Grapes B while Alan Richards, Richard Jenkins and Bobby Gough won for the Pheasant. The doubles were shared.
