Welshpool jumped back into the Shropshire Division Three promotion chase with a fantastic victory over fellow hopefuls Whitchurch II.
On a day that saw the late-afternoon showers wipe out most of the games, Welshpool didn’t hang around and dismissed Whitchurch II for just 101 with wickets shared around the attack.
Lance Parkes cracked on with an unbeaten 50 to get Welshpool across the line before the rain came for a vital win to remain fourth, but just one point separates them from the second promotion place going into the last game.
Montgomery demolished Frankwell by nine wickets to beat the weather and stay in with a shout of finishing in the top three in Division Two.
Nathan Smith (4-18) and Andrew Roscow (3-15) did the damage as the visitors were dismissed for just 82.
Openers Andrew Barker (36) and Rob Bennett (32no) teamed up to see Monty home.
Guilsfield & Llandrinio saw their match abandoned at the halfway stage at Oswestry II, which was the same outcome for their second team in Division Seven.
Montgomery II were dismissed for just 43 chasing 137-8 set by Cae Glas in Division Six, while Welshpool II (90-8) finished well short of Condover II’s 123 all out.
