Three-way battle for vacant Council seat

Three people have been nominated for the vacant Gungrog Ward seat on Welshpool Town Council, meaning an election will be held on September 4.

Former Deputy Mayor, Cllr Heather Chave, is among the names and is bidding for a return after standing down back in 2019.

Kelly Meredith and Bill Rowell have also thrown their names into the hat, with all three candidates standing as Independents.

The Gungrog Ward seat has become vacant following the decision by Cllr Geoff Lanaghan to stand down due to family reasons.
