Guilsfield council backs Hardings expansion

A successful business on the edge of Guilsfield is set to expand considerably after the local council backed its ambitious plans.

Hardings Shed and Garden Supplies have acquired the adjacent bungalow which they want to demolish to expand their retail operation with more parking added.

At this week’s community council meeting, concerns were raised about the ongoing issues of speeding on the A490 which runs past the business, but councillors decided to back the proposal, whilst also continuing their support to introduce a 40mph speed limit.

Fed-up residents have submitted a petition to Powys County Council calling for an enforced speed restriction along the treacherous stretch of road.

The council said previously that it will carry out an investigation to decide whether it is needed. It is still not known when that will take place.

The Hardings application will now go on to be considered by Powys, who have the final say.
