Guilsfield Young Farmers Club has announced that it will take a breather after failing to attract sufficient new members despite an extensive recruitment drive this summer.
A special meeting was held in the village back in August in a bid to keep the club going after admitting it had faced “ongoing challenges with declining membership and a lack of volunteers to help run the club”.
And, after 26 years since it reformed in the village, this morning the club sadly announced:
“Due to a lack of new membership, the difficult decision has been made to temporarily pause the club’s activities.
“A meeting will be arranged to discuss the possibility of reopening in 2027 and to consider the club’s future.
“We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the local community for its invaluable support and generosity over the past 26 years. Your encouragement and commitment have meant a great deal to the club, and we are truly grateful for everything you have contributed.”
The Young Farmers community provides a vibrant backbone to local rural life with events and activities engaging young people aged between 10-28.
