Firefighters from Newtown Fire Station will attempt to visit all 58 fire stations across mid and west Wales during an ambitious 48-hour motorcycle ride this weekend.
The team will cover around 750 miles today and tomorrow travelling throughout the area served by Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
The challenge will involve long hours on the road and potentially unpredictable weather as the riders seek to raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity.
Supporters will be able to follow the team’s journey and receive live updates through Newtown Fire Station’s Facebook page.
All the money raised through the ride will go directly to the Fire Fighters Charity which provides lifelong care and specialist support to serving and retired firefighters and their families.
Its services include physical rehabilitation, mental health support, financial assistance and help with wellbeing. The charity works with members of the UK fire services community affected by injury, illness and trauma, both on and off duty.
Newtown’s crew is asking residents, friends, relatives and supporters across the region to get behind the riders.
Donations can be made through the team’s JustGiving fundraising page.
The route has been carefully planned, with the motorcyclists expected to follow safe-riding guidance and take regular breaks throughout the weekend.
The team hopes the challenge will demonstrate the determination and solidarity found throughout the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service community while generating valuable support for an important cause.
