Welshpool’s Town Hall Market will be closed until Tuesday following toilet trouble that was reported as “an explosion” to MyWelshpool!
We understand that there was some sort of a blockage in the toilets’ soil waste pipe on the upper level of the Town Hall that resulted in an “explosion” which leaked downwards.
Town Clerk Richard Williams confirmed this morning: “The Town Hall has suffered a leak in the soil waste pipe from the above toilets which has caused some damage to the ceiling and one unit in the indoor market.
“To repair the damage and make good the market, the market was closed Friday, and will close today (Saturday) and on Monday.
“We are expected to re-open fully on Tuesday and all other areas of the Town Hall remain unaffected.”
The Town Hall is expected to undergo a multimillion-pound modernisation programme over the next five years, with the initial bid for National Lottery funding submitted this week.
