The town’s council tax payers will be relieved to hear that the Town Hall has enjoyed a sharp increase in bookings during quarter four of the financial year.
In a report to councillors, it was revealed that an impressive £6,217.40 was raised for use of council facilities during the most recent three-month period, a huge increase on the previous quarter.
Most of that came through renting out the Town Hall, with the Assembly Room raising £2,936 and the Corn Exchange brining in £2,329.40.
The figures showed a 65% uplift in income and commercial activity compared to the previous quarter – an increase of £2442.90.
“This supports the Council’s income generation objectives and provides a positive baseline for future financial planning and facilities development,” the report stated.
Councillors noted the report at the Operations & Development Committee meeting.
