Police probe cat shooting

15/05/2026 @ 05:30

Local police officers have opened an investigation into the alleged shooting of a cat in Arddleen.

The force confirmed it was looking into the incident after a social media post by the cat’s owner reported that the animal was shot by an air rifle.

The post said that the “nature of the injury indicates a deliberate and calculated act of cruelty; the perpetrator targeted Polly’s head, resulting in a pellet wound to her ear”.

The owner described the incident as “depraved behaviour” and added in the post: “We are writing this to express our absolute outrage. It is entirely unacceptable that an individual in this community is using a weapon to target and mutilate defenceless domestic pets.”

Last night the police confirmed: “Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of a cat sustaining an injury - believed to be caused by an air rifle - in the village of Arddleen. The incident was reported at around 7am on Saturday, May 9. Enquiries are ongoing.”
