Two representatives from Newtown-based Citizens Advice Powys attended a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace this week in recognition of the charity’s work supporting communities across Powys.
Yasmin Bell and Alison Schmeinck were among guests invited to the event hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
The honour recognised the contribution of volunteers and staff helping people facing financial hardship, housing problems, debt, employment concerns and ongoing cost of living pressures across the county.
Based in Newtown, Citizens Advice Powys has seen demand for support continue to rise in recent years, particularly during the energy and cost of living crisis, when advisers helped residents struggling with soaring oil and heating costs in rural communities.
Chief Officer Yasmin Bell said the invitation was “a proud moment” for the organisation and reflected the commitment of the wider team.
“Every day our advisers work with people who are worried about how they will pay their bills, keep warm or manage unexpected crises,” they said.
“This recognition belongs to everyone involved in delivering that support across Powys.”
The charity is also marking 25 years of providing free, confidential and independent advice services across Powys, helping thousands of residents each year access financial support and guidance they may not have known was available.
Citizens Advice Powys is encouraging residents and businesses to continue supporting its work through donations and fundraising as demand for advice services remains high across the county.
