Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed that the rumpus reported by readers on Brookfield Road last Monday night was not connected to the Tesco break-in that happened on the same night.
Easter Bank Holiday weekend in Welshpool reached a dramatic ending with thieves targeting the supermarket’s petrol station for a second time this year, smashing their way in to steal tobacco and cash.
But on the same evening, readers told us they were awoken after midnight to police chasing down someone on Brookfield Road.
This morning, the force has finally confirmed: “Brookfield Road related to a stop/search where an individual was found to be in possession of cannabis. They were issued with an Adult Community Resolution. No arrests were made.”
They have not reported an update on the Tesco incident. The previous break-in, on New Year’s Day, resulted in two Liverpool men being sent to prison after £6,600 in cash and tobacco were taken.
