Children in Welshpool are set to benefit from exciting new play opportunities following the official opening of a new accessible multi-play unit at Maesydre Playpark.
The new equipment, designed specifically for children aged 3 to 7 years, was officially opened today by the Mayor of Welshpool, Cllr Phil Owen.
The installation of the new play equipment has been made possible thanks to a successful £20,000 grant award through the Welsh Government All Wales Play Opportunities Grant, with Welshpool Town Council contributing the remaining balance of the project cost.
The new unit has been designed to provide a safe, inclusive and engaging space for younger children to play, while also improving accessibility and supporting children of different abilities to enjoy the park together.
Town Clerk Richard Williams said: “We are delighted to see this project completed and officially opened. Maesydre is one of Welshpool’s most important community spaces, and this new equipment directly responds to feedback from local families who told us they wanted to see more play opportunities for younger children.
“We are grateful for the grant support which has helped make this possible, and we hope the new equipment will be enjoyed by children and families across Welshpool for many years ahead.”
