Welshpool Town Council is urging residents to join them in letting their gardens grow through the whole of May to allow nature to thrive.
The annual ‘NoMoMay’ campaign runs throughout the UK, and Welshpool has officially signed up to park their mowers and encourage wildflower growth to boost biodiversity.
“Welshpool Town Council is proud to announce its participation in #NoMowMay, supporting the national campaign led by Plantlife UK,” the Town Council said in a statement.
“Throughout May, we will be setting aside the lawnmowers and allowing grass and wildflowers to flourish across selected council-managed green spaces.
“By letting grass grow naturally, we can provide vital food and shelter for pollinators like bees, butterflies, and other wildlife at a crucial time of year.
“Plantlife UK are calling on everyone to ‘give power to the flowers’ in 2025 by taking part in
NoMowMay. Welshpool Town Council is proud to stand with them — and we encourage residents to join us by embracing a wilder lawn this month.”
