Local railway line reopens

03/04/2025 @ 12:25

It’s been hard going recently for rail users, but finally they can get back on board!

The railway line through Montgomeryshire is back to full working order this morning after three weeks of disruption.

Network Rail has carried out extensive work on the line, including critical work on cuttings to “enhance and maintain the stability and reliability of the earthwork”, as well as completed tasks on structures and general maintenance.

Two miles of tracks have also been renewed down the line towards Machynlleth station.

“By working with Transport for Wales, we have combined projects that would have taken several years to complete. This will significantly help reduce future disruption to passengers and residents living near the railway,” a spokeksperson for Network Rail said.

During the line closure, 40 bus companies were called upon to deliver replacement services.
