A forlorn looking fixture in Welshpool Town Centre will be replaced, hopefully in time for the approaching tourism season.
The town welcomes thousands of visitors over the Easter week, with many stopping off on their way to and from the coast, but this town centre bin has become an embarrassing eyesore.
However, one of Welshpool’s three county councillors has confirmed that it should be replaced soon.
Cllr Richard Church said this morning whilst posting the picture: “This bin in Broad Street has seen better days. I am pleased to say that Powys Council have told me that a replacement is on order, and we will have the new bin in place soon.
“The bin is bolted to the pavement so it isn’t totally straightforward to move it and put the new one in place.”
In recent years, March has been the time that residents have made complaints about the state of the town, prompting a number of community initiatives to tidy up the town.
