Yellow alert for more rain Monday

26/01/2025 @ 03:47

The Welshpool area has largely escaped the problems caused by Storm Éowyn, but there’s another yellow warning for rain for the area tomorrow.

The high winds did bring several trees down across local roads on Friday, but the heavy rain hasn’t materialised meaning that we have largely been unaffected in comparison to other parts of Wales.

However, tomorrow could bring some challenges with a warning in place from noon-midnight.

“Periods of heavy rain could eventually lead to some flooding of roads and properties,” a Met Office statement reads.

What could we expect?

  • Spray and flooding will likely lead to difficult driving conditions and possibly even some road closures
  • There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
  • Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services
  • There is a small chance that some rural communities will become cut off by flooded roads
