Award for fundraising Welshpool bingo group

22/01/2025 @ 09:22

Just before eyes down at last night’s weekly bingo night at the Corn Exchange in Welshpool, players were told they have collectively been given an award.

Since its introduction post-lockdown, the bingo nights have raised an impressive £8,000 towards the ENSA Memorial Appeal, which raises money towards a lasting memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire for all the entertainers who ‘did their bit’ for King and country during World War 2 by boosting morale both at home and abroad.

The evenings are organised by Alan Crowe and he welcomed Ian Harley, a trustee of the ENSA Memorial Appeal, who thanked them for their support.

He then presented those present with the charity's Wyn Calvin Award 2024 for their outstanding contribution to the appeal.

Bingo is held in the Corn Exchange every Tuesday with eyes down at 7pm and money raised alternates each week between the ENSA Memorial Appeal and Welshpool 1940s Weekend.

Anyone wishing to make a donation, however, large or small can do so via the Crowd Funder linkhttps://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/ensa-memorial-appeal-1202671
