08/01/2025 @ 10:37

We’re in for a good laugh next month after a new comedy night was announced for Montgomery next month.

Marches Comedy, the brainchild of the trustees at Montgomery Town Hall, will take place on Friday, February 7.

Co-organiser Keith Williams said: “Having talked about running quality comedy evenings at the town hall for a long time, it’s nice to finally see the idea come to fruition with our first Marches Comedy night in February. We’ve managed to bag three stellar acts and an MC to kick off what we hope will become a regular event in Montgomery.”

Tickets for Marches Comedy are £15 and available to book through https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/montgomerytownhall/marches-comedy/e-lqgege

The line-up

MC for the evening, Freddy Quinne, has been described as a comedic powerhouse and ‘A force of nature’ by the Daily Express. Freddy’s no-holds barred stand-up show, is delivered with his trademark wit and often brutal punchlines, covering everything from topical news to universal truths. As seen on Have a Word, ITV, and his acclaimed hit podcast Dead Men Talking.

Charmian Hughes is a stand-up comedian with over 30 years performance experience. She has played venues all over the UK including The Comedy Store, Glastonbury Festival as well as Melbourne Comedy Festival and New Zealand fringes. A tutor at Jackson’s Lane legendary comedy workshops, she included Micky Flanagan among her students and featured in his documentary Peeping Behind The Curtain. Charmian has entertained about everyone from members of the Houses of Parliament to ‘Lifers’ in prison (not to be confused).

Birmingham-based James Cook is a professional comedian with over 1,000 gigs’ worth of experience as an act and compere. He has performed two shows at the Edinburgh Fringe – Adventures on Air (the one about the radio) and Always Be Rolling (the one about board games). Online review guide Broadway Baby said: ‘A genuine laugh every 10 seconds... the audience was loving it... a standout show of excellent quality’.

Scott Bennett is a stand-up comedian and writer who is ‘without doubt live comedy’s best kept secret’ according to The Evening Standard newspaper. He made his debut on Live at the Apollo in 2021 and has also appeared as a regular guest on BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz, The Now Show, The Likely Dads and Elephant in the Room with Sarah Millican. During the lockdown of 2020, Scott pioneered the viral hit, Stand up from the Shed, a weekly topical live streamed stand up show from his actual garden shed. Scott’s tour dates sell out as soon as they go on sale, and he recently appeared at the Royal Variety Performance.
