Flood warnings now, and snow for Saturday

Emergency services are again telling people not to drive through water after reports from readers of cars getting stuck across the Welshpool area.

This photo of the airport straight was taken by one of our readers at 1pm (Wednesday), with people stuck in the car and awaiting rescue after the rapid rise of the rivers Severn and Vyrnwy today.

Bizarrely, a second car then also got stuck despite seeing the previous one in trouble.

The usual problem spots are all playing up as usual so the advice again is to only travel if absolutely essential.

We can expect some brighter weather tomorrow and Friday, but temperatures will drop towards the weekend with a yellow warning for snow now issued by the Met Office.

That warning is in place from noon on Saturday through to 9am on Monday.
