Powis Castle and Garden is bringing the magic of Christmas with bigger light projections and Dickensian-themed decorations throughout the castle, and it all gets underway this Friday.
But visitors are being reminded that it is a ticketed event due to the huge crowds that attended last year for free, with tickets only available on the day through the visitor centre.
It is free for National Trust members, but non-members will need to pay £15 (adults) and £7.50 for children and there are reductions available for families and one adult with three children.
The ticket also includes entry into the gardens and the incredible castle interior which is being transformed into a spell-binding Victorian Christmas wonderland, inspired by Charles Dickens’ timeless classic A Christmas Carol. Both these attractions will close at 4pm though to prepare for the evening light show.
The courtyard will also need to be vacated from 4pm-4.30pm to allow preparations.

Step into beautifully adorned rooms, where flickering candlelight casts a warm glow on lush evergreen garlands, intricate decorations, and carefully arranged scenes that bring Dickens’ world to life. Imagine stepping into the pages of the beloved story, with every detail evoking the warmth, joy, and nostalgia of Christmases past.
The castle’s grandeur provides the perfect setting for this immersive experience, allowing visitors to reflect on the enduring themes of kindness and generosity that Dickens championed. It’s a journey into the past that reminds us of the timeless magic of Christmas.
Mesmerising Lights: Castle illuminations
