Llanfair Caereinion Town Council will be raising their slice of the council tax by 11p a week for a Band D property in 2025.
The council is usually among the first to announce their intentions, and they have come out pre-Christmas to let residents know of what’s ahead.
Councillors have voted to approve the budget, with the total precept, the money that the Town Council gets from council tax, rising by £5,075.
This means that from April 1, 2025, each of the Band D houses in the town will be paying 1.28p per week (up from £1.17p, and an increase of 10%).
The council pointed out that over the current five-year period, the average increase has been 3.88% including next year.
“By careful budgeting, monthly reporting of management accounts and bank reconciliations, the councillors can see that all is in order each month,” said Town Clerk, Robert Robinson.
The rest of the council tax bill is made up from budgets submitted by Powys County Council, Dyfed-Powys Police and the Fire Service. They will be releasing their increases soon.
