Organisers of the final Welshpool Illuminated Tractor Run are determined for it to go ahead tomorrow (Sunday) despite the area set to be smashed today by Storm Darragh.
Police have this morning warned people to stay home whilst the storm passes through the area, but tomorrow’s event is still set to go ahead providing the expected flooding allows.
Over 200 agricultural vehicles are taking on the 30.2-mile route, the largest in Powys, for the final run that will be raising funds for the Farming Community Network.
“The weather is the only thing out of our control, so fingers crossed Llandrinio doesn’t flood or we’ll have to go to Plan B,” said one of the lead organisers, Jenny Clarke, who added that over 50 volunteers have stepped forward to help out.
“We will be continually checking for road closures, trees down and flood alerts, as well as factoring in the daily weather. Working with The Environment Agency and River Watch, we are being updated all the time.”
There is ample parking at The Livestock Market with cars charged £1. Raffle tickets will also be on sale.
The day is being sponsored by RVT, Pontesbury Tractors, Caleb Roberts Insurance Services, Hughes Catering, Welshpool Printing Group, Derwas of Welshpool, RVW Pugh, TR Machinery and Welshpool Livestock Market.
